The Dallas Stars re-signed forward Blake Comeau to a one-year, $1 million deal on Monday for 2021-22.

Comeau, 35, was set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Comeau registered 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) in 51 games in his third season with the Stars and his 15th in the NHL in 2020-21.

"We're excited to be able to bring Blake back for another season," Stars general manager Jim Nill said in a statement. "Blake's approach to the game, coupled with his determination and physical presence on the ice, has been a tremendous asset for us over the past three seasons. His vast experience has allowed him to become a strong leader in the dressing room and we're thrilled he'll be returning next season."

A second-round pick by the New York Islanders in 2004, Comeau has 333 points (140 goals, 193 assists) and 569 penalty minutes in 903 games with the Islanders, Calgary Flames, Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins, Colorado Avalanche and Stars.
